Cambodia is a country in South East Asia. Jorani is a name meaning 'radiant jewel'. And a radiant jewel she is in her mauve harlequin sampot (skirt). Jewels bedeck every aspect of this classical dance costume. They start with the tiny jeweled sandals on her feet, run up the front sash of her skirt, skip across the shoulders of her blouse and lavishly adorn the pointed crown on her head. Multiple rows of embroidered flowers circle the belt along her waistband and bright golden jewels bedeck the center of her sash. Silken fabric flowers fall from the edge of her beaded jeweled hat. Gold like metallic diamonds dangle from the scalloped embroidered edge of her collar.
